i4e App Reviews

Works for me just fine

I actually think its a wonderful app. Makes things very convenient for me, fun to use, has a great look, and has some very creative and functional features. I just created my character from scratch, so I didnt bother with importing. I glitched my own character save ability once by creating an item with a blank name field, but developer response was prompt and fixed it right away. This app does what I want it to do and does it well.

AMAZING!

This app is amazing. I bought a few months ago but got to use it for the first time last night. Im super impressed by the combat section when you take damage or get healed. Never going back to character sheets ever. There are a few things Id like to see though. I feel like healing potions should be with the combat section. I would also like to see the more section just have all the extra pages rather than clicking one to get to others. I would also like to see items, particularly consumable ones, be better integrated. Like we could type them in some way. Still an amazing app that I had just been itching to use. The price isnt do bad considering how many characters I have on here. Just think its this or printer ink. Awesome app!

Very good

Everything works great. Although the app crashes when I try to access Global Attack Select. If that is fixed, 5 stars wont be a problem.

Awesome app

If you play 4th edition D&D, you wont find a better app for keeping your character sheets. If you use the D&D Insider character designer, you can download them into the app, formatted and ready to play. And the design in the app is clean and well-designed. Love this app!

New update

When I downloaded the new update, the app would not open. Rebooting the phone did not help. I had to delete i4e and reinstall it. Once you reinstall it, it will work. I havent played around with the new features yet. I have to import my character, yet again. Well see how accurate the import is this time.

Update

Well when its working it rocks. Problem w the update but Im sure theyll fix that fast... If u play u need this... Would love to see random character generator . So awesome that u can import from wotc character builder!!!

Pretty Noice

App wouldnt boot up when I got new update but reinstalled and worked fine. Lost all my characters but new import is so accurate that wasnt even a problem. Such a useful tool for managing characters! Great support for any issues you happen to have as well.

Wow!

With the new update, they are getting closer to perfection! This app is SO useful! Advice to developers: develop a DMs tool for combats - one that not only allows importing important player stats, but also monster stats (from WotCs moster builder app...), and allows for the choice of either auto in-app initiative rolling or manual rolling (and you enter in the die roll). Keep up the good work!

Updating my review, import issue resolved

I previously left a 1-star rating because the app crashed after update and because I wasnt able to import new characters. I was contacted by the developer overnight and the import issue has been resolved, so Im upgrading to 4 stars. Apparently a new import server is being used which I wasnt aware of, but was able to find by going back to the developer help page linked from here. Still same gorgeous interface, with more info than before. Just be sure to double check everything after import (for example, my ranged and basic attacks didnt import correctly from my Character Builder file).

Very Useful

I purchased this to see if I could replace my trusty paper character sheet, and for the most part the app is a success. The developers managed to fit all the pertinent PC info on a single screen efficiently, and built-in damage tracking and power usage makes it largely unnecessary to carry around sheets of note paper as well. Im also very pleased with the quick response regarding a bug in the previous version that would not allow feats to be displayed in the iPad app (now fixed -- thanks!). While the app is clearly designed to integrate with D&D Insider, the provided browser-based web front-end works fine if youre too cheap like me for a subscription. While I havent had a chance to play a session using the app yet, it appears to be very stable. About the only things on my wish list for future features would be (1) an easy way to export PC information to share with non-iPad-owning DMs like mine, (2) importation/display of character portraits, and (3) built-in listings for feats/traits/powers/etc. (at this point, they have to be hand-entered).

Customer Service

The best thing about this app isnt the slick UI or the fact that you can import dnd4e files from the character creator, its that its creator, Mike, responds almost instantly and competently to any problems or questions you may have. THAT is what sets this app apart. You get a REAL person who cares about his work and truly wants you to have fun using it.

Really awesome

I use this app with the official character builder through the DnD insider subscription, and this is so incredibly handy. I use it every session and its so much easier and more convenient than carrying paper or a laptop. I just whip out my phone and dice (or my dice app on my phone!) and Im ready to DnD anywhere. Also, as others have mentioned, really really good customer service. If you use the official character creator, I can personally vouch for this as being ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY. I recommend it to everyone that has an iPhone and plays D&D.

Great customer service!

Not only is this the only character app that actually works, but their customer service is awesome! They were prompt, friendly and they werent condescending at all. That tis rare. The problem was on my end, they walked me through it till I was doing things correctly. As far as the app. It works great. I love the reset from pressing the different rests.

Not worth it

Difficult to navigate. Does not featured DnDi integration like other similar apps. I really wish I had looked more before purchasing this one, because it is not very good.

Excellent Character Sheet Replacement

If youre looking for an easy-to-use character sheet replacement for your iOS device, this is the one you should get. Yes its a bit more expensive than some of the others out there, but its well worth your money. The gentleman responsible for the app has put a lot of time and effor into it and it shows. No other app Ive tried (and Ive tried several) has as clean an interface with so small a learning curve. This app features the ability to import your .dnd4e characters, a very clean interface, nice-looking graphics, and is super intuitive. The author also has a free app that connects to the DnDI compendium if youre online! Finally, the programmer is incredibly responsive to questions via Twitter and bug submissions via email and works to resolve issues quickly and update regularly. In simple terms - the best bang for your buck.

Latest update

Im new to 4e and love the app but dude, really? This latest app totally wiped out the two characters I created for my upcoming game night. Now I start from scratch, with limited time, with paper and pencil. Until I see that updates wont wipe my chars, I wont be utilizing the app.

Great

I love the app the only feature I wish it had was a horizontal orientation on the iPad.

Wonderful replacement for pen and paper

Ive used this app for my latest campaign, and after several months, Ive never considered going back to pen and paper. Beautifully designed, easy to work with, its a breeze to use during sessions, especially tracking powers used in combat. Leveling up is fairly simple, though not an automatic process, which is nice if you have any homebrew changes. In fact, overall it is very customizable and homebrew friendly, while still doing a lot of the work for you. The import site makes creating and leveling up even easier if you choose to use it, and when I had an issue with it the support was top notch. I highly recommend it.

Great app, needs some tweaks

The only things I found wrong with the app is that it doesnt calculate defenses right on imports (easily correctable manually) and lack of landscape mode. This is more important for those who have landscape only cases and wouldnt mind using their stands when using the app. Beyond that I havent seen anything else wrong.

Great app for beginners!!!

I have D&D insider Im pretty new to it and we play home custom games and this app is worth the $5 easy. You already have an iPhone or an iPad you can afford $5. A must buy
